Belle of Beauty Empty Hearts and a Chipped Cup ____________________________________________
Belle sat on on top of the elm wood desk with a duster and stack of old and previously unused books. She wore a black cotton ruffled shirt with a deep aquamarine full skirt topped off with a red knit hat and black heels. One by one she cleaned the covers of the books as dust filled the air. A tickle filled her nose as some of the dust landed in it and a small sneeze escaped her person. She wrinkled the feeling out of her nose before looking up to her cleaning buddy.
Ruby, who was sorting out and organizing the books into genres and authors asked if she needed a gas mask or something. "No thanks. I'll be find. It will all be worth it once I get this place open to the public." She couldn't help but smile at the thought. The library was more than just a job. It was the also a new beginning. Staying hidden with Rumpelstiltskin out in the Forrest felt too much like the asylum she had recently stayed for the last 28 years. Not that those years felt so. Time never did start moving forward since Emma came into town. Still, the library made her feel like she was part of the town for real now. She didn't feel so helpless how that she had something of her own to hold on. Something that would not lie to her or try to tear her away from her own mind.
"Thank you for helping me Ruby, you have been such a good friend to me." The only friend really. Belle still had not meet most of the people in Storybrooke. She hasn't even seen the man who rescued her from the asylum. Belle's thought were then cut short as she heard the entrance door creak open. As she turned her head her heart felt heavy. The last person she really wanted to see at this moment was Regina. "To what do I owe this visit?" she asked her. There was a slight tone of irritation in her voice. It will be a while before this feeling of mistrust and unfriendliness will let her forgive Regina for keeping her locked up. [/sub] [/blockquote] ____________________________________________

--------------------------------------------------- Where was it?
Regina emptied yet another brown box before pushing it to the side of her attic. Her current task was to find an rather old spell book, one that she had obtained during her reign as the Queen, following her husbands 'untimely' death. She wanted to find a way to control her magic, and if necessary, find a way to use it to get Henry back. Although she had agreed not to use magic, it seemed almost impossible now. Even more so with all the fairy magic that currently ran through her veins after re-opening the well to let Mary Margret and Emma back.
Though of course, like everything else, she hadn't seen that book since before they even arrived in Storybrooke. Balancing herself in her heels, Regina quickly stood up and headed down from the attic and made her way towards the formal sitting room. The bookcase filled the entire left wall. The bottom rows were filled with Henry's books, simply so he could reach them. None were fairytales, and the tale of Snow White was silently forbidden from the house. One the middle rows were historical and other informative works, as well as some classics like 'Pride & Prejudice'. Although the top rows, which were covered in dust from years of not being touched, held a small section of the books that Regina had brought back with her. Picking up the stool, she quickly stood on it and read through the title. Yet again her search came up hopeless.
It must be in the library.
Grabbing her keys, she headed out of the room and out of the house, locking the door behind her. Her eyes glanced around her surroundings as she headed towards the car as quickly as she could. Once inside, she put the keys into the car and pulled out of the driveway. It only took slightly over a minute to arrive at the library. Pulling her vintage Mercedes against the footpath, she got out and headed towards the building, locking the car behind her.
Of course, she had completely forgotten that Belle would be there. "Oh, it's you" She pursed her dark lips and came to a stop, her raven hair bouncing for a moment. She never did like Belle, after all, she was rumpelstiltskin's girl. Not that she would admit it, but she hated seeing him happy, hated seeing him with his true love. After all the pain and suffering he had caused as the Dark One, he still had his true love in the end. Unlike her, who had her true love's heart crushed before her very eyes by a woman who was meant to protect her and love her.
Placing her hand in her blazer pocket, her dark eyes glared at the younger woman. "I'm looking for a very particular book that I may be here. If you don't mind. I'll look for it myself" She said before turning on her heel and heading towards the back of the library.

A book? What does she need it for? There were thousands of books in the building and she had only just sorted through a rough estimated hundred within the day so far. If it was a particular book she needed it would take more than one person to search for and find it any time soon. As Storybrookes librarian it IS her job to help the public find the books they need. Still, Belle did not trust the reasons for Regina needing this book. She wasn't even sure what kind of book it was. A historical book about the town? One from Fairytale Land? Or was it a spell book from her next evil plot?
She could just forget about helping her. Technically since the library was still closed she wasn't obligated to help any one out just yet. She could just stay where she was and dust off more books, checking for tears and damage they mights have on them. She would be able to watch Regina from the desk and see if anything fishy was being practices. Belle looked at Ruby who didn't look like she was going to say anything. It was obvious that she had no intention to help out the Evil Queen. She just gave Belle a look that told her that this was all on her. For a second she wanted to just turn her head and say, "don't break anything" and have Regina look for herself. But she just couldn't.
Belle sighed a little inside. As always her good judgement kept eating at her to just help her out. There was a reason for how she acts and that reason alone should be enough to give her a chance. Belle thought about Rumpelstiltskin. How he too had done some of the worst things possible and yet there is still good in him. She didn't like it much but hating her just seemed unfair at this point. "What book are you looking for. I can help you find it." [/sub][/blockquote] ____________________________________________

-------------------------------------
As Regina walked towards the back of the library, she silently wondered what her former mentor ever saw in the girl. She was nothing special, had no magical powers and if anything, was a weakness. What was it her mother always say? Love is weakness, Regina. She shut her eyes for a moment as she thought back to Daniel, how her mother had ripped his heart straight out of his chest, and crushed it right before her very eyes. Biting her lip, she shut her eyes and thought for a moment. Forcing herself to push the memories of another life to the back of her mind and focus on the task at hand. It was then that Belle spoke once more.
"I doubt you could, dear" She looked down her nose at the younger woman as she spoke. Her still regal posture stayed strong as she glared at the woman before turning on her heel again and headed towards the back bookshelf. "Although, you could humor me and not go running off to tell that beloved of yours that I was here this evening" She revealed as she turned her head to look at the woman before she began to run her finger across the spine of each book. After all, the last thing she needed was for Rumple to find out that she was looking for the spell book. Then he would want it too.
Looking through the book, she wondered why she had even bothered bringing most of them over. Granted that some were books from their world, the vast majority were books from their own land. The first shelf came up a blank, however she did find some of her older books, from her time as a simple Lady, before she became Queen. She made a mental note to come back for them.
"Do you have a stool, or a ladder?' She called over her shoulder.

Belle of Beauty Empty Hearts and a Chipped Cup ____________________________________________
Belle was a bit taken back at the comment Regina had said. Running off to tell Rumpelstiltskin about her being in the Library in search. Granted there have been times when she did mention to him some of the things she heard going on in town but they were just little things that were not of very interest. When it came to sneaking around and possible magic happenings she is the first one that would try to keep it away from the man she loved so dearly. The man she was trying so hard to save from being evil. "I think I can keep my mouth shut." Belle looked to Ruby who just looked at the two of them with interest. The sarcastic remarks and obvious tension with the two was enough to keep people a bit on the gossiping edge.
"I'll leave you to your search then," Belle resumed, waving a hand in the direction of the long rows of books. Regina will need a good amount of luck to find what she is looking for within the hour. Tired of dusting off books, Belle went off to work on another task on her almost never ending list of things to get done before the Library opens. Earlier that week she had received the new library cards but had yet to see how they turned out. Using a ballpoint pen she ripped the tape form the box and smiled at the sight of the shiny medium blue card with the silver clear writing. The card title read, "Storybrooke Public Library." Underneath the title was some more writing followed by a white bar space where the card holder would sign. Belle was very happy with the cards.
In the middle of her aw she heard Regina ask if she could bring her a stool so she went underneath her desk to get the closest one. She took off a book that was resting on top of it and held the book in one hand as she carried the stool with her other and hastily brought it to the Evil Queen. "Here you go," She said as she placed the reclining step stool down next to Regina.. She then held the book closer to her chest, "Do You need anything else." She was trying hard to be nice. ---------------------------------------------------
Keeping her eyes on the bookshelves, she paid little attention to the young woman as she advanced towards her with the stool. "That will be all" She said, in the same tone she had once addressed her servants in back in the Enchanted Forest. Placing her hands on her slender hips, she silently cursed herself for bringing so many books with her. Moving the stool to the left, she took one step onto it and looked at the shelf, running her finger across the spine before moving a book out to look at the row behind it.
Ah ha! There it was!
Her lips turned up in a smirk as she pulled the dusty book from its shelf, blowing off the excess dust before stepping off the stool. She glanced a round, just to make sure that Belle wasn't watching. She didn't trust the girl, and wasn't afraid to admit it either. Why had a man as powerful as Rumple, the dark one, fallen for...that? Rolling her eyes and putting that thought to the back of her mind, she opened the book quickly, flicking through the pages at lightening speed, stopping at the section where the spell should be.
Though it wasn't there.
In its place lay the ripped ends of the pages, clearly whoever had pulled them out of the ancient book had wanted to make sure their work at went noticed. "Who's been in here?" She muttered through her death as she turned to look at Belle, her eyes glaring and full of anger as she advanced towards the shorter woman. Her four inch Jimmy Choos gave her a rather big advantage on the girl. Crossing her arms, she looked down her nose at the girl. "Well, I'm waiting..." She said.
